Job Description

Automatic Storage Management (ASM), a feature of the Oracle Database, provides Oracle customers with simplified storage management that is consistent across all server and storage platforms.

ASM is part of the Core of the Oracle Database, it is a File System and a Logical Volume Manager for the Database. We work on different projects to support our Cloud, Cloud at Customer, and On Premises customers. In the Cloud, ASM is used in all of the appliances, being them Exadata or ODA (Oracle Database Appliance), and it is also used in most of our customer's environments that did not purchase an appliance. A simple way to see ASM is as a File System and a Logical Volume Manager, but it is even more than that.

Required skills and qualifications

1. Excellent knowledge and experience developing, debugging, and maintaining C applications .

2. Very good in Operating Systems (multithreading, processes, stacks, etc.).

3. Very good knowledge of algorithms, data structures, memory management.

4. Knowledge of distributed systems, networking, interprocess communication is required in an experienced candidate.

5. Experience working in Linux environments.

Preferred qualifications

1. Interprocess communication.

2. Good knowledge of tools such as gcc, gdb, and other debug tools.

3. Knowledge of version control systems like Rational ClearCase for UNIX.

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.
