WSP USA Senior Hydrogeologist in YT, Canada
WSP is currently seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist role within our Environmental Management team in British Columbia. The incumbent is responsible for and leads teams in the successful delivery of hydrogeological projects. The role is responsible for authoring and overseeing deliverables for review to support the successful completion of projects. This includes preparing proposals, project initiation and management, data collection, technical analysis, writing and reviewing technical reports, providing technical advice.
In conjunction with their technical discipline, the incumbent works as a well-rounded Consultant and may begin to specialize in project management, client relations or business development.

What you can expect to do here…
TECHNICAL
Has achieved a senior level of technical proficiency in hydrogeology and is committed to the continued development of those skills.
Develops and champions implementation of work procedures, policies and requirements.
Provides technical guidance and ensures quality and integrity in project work.
Actively participates in the health and safety culture, providing review and guidance for H&S initiatives.
Prepares complex proposals and reports, on time and within budgets.
Leads and oversees: Background reviews of available data, Data compilation, analysis and QA/QC. Management of project schedule and budget.
Collaborates as the discipline component lead or overall lead on multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Reviews HSSE requirements and associated plans.
Coordinates the planning and execution of medium to large projects.
Monitors performance according to the project execution plan, and terms of the contract.
Responsible for maintaining the project schedule and budget.
Responsible for assessing sub-contractor performance.
Collaborates across different technical disciplines to achieve project outcomes.
Produces regular progress reports for the client, the project team and other stakeholders.
May begin to specialize in this area and move to a new Career Track.
SUPERVISION
Supervises WSP qualified subcontractors to ensure they are meeting the requirements of their scope safely and professionally.
Coaches field staff in the proficient use of technical equipment and tools.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Understands the key business drivers and financial indicators that make WSP successful.
Demonstrates an ability to find business opportunities and successfully evaluate them against the strategy.
Evaluates the risks, benefits and technical implications of different options within their own, and related fields.
Considers cost implication of proposed courses of action, exploring opportunities for controlling and reducing costs.
Finds opportunities aligned to the strategy to build back-log within their Business Unit.
OTHER
Builds internal networks within WSP to identify opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration
Actively involved in hydrogeology industry events, including attendance and presentations on behalf of WSP at conferences and workshops as required.
May publish one (1) or more technical paper every two years (author or coauthor).
Participates or contributes to the Hydrogeology technical community in a meaningful way.
CLIENT
Develops meaningful and ongoing client relationships.
Participates in client contract negotiation including legal review and applicable internal approvals.
Provides hydrogeological technical input across projects and deliverables, ensuring excellent service to clients in all interactions and throughout the project lifecycle.
Facilitates and leads client meetings.
What you'll bring to WSP…
Required: Bachelor of Science in Geoscience or Engineering with a focus on Hydrogeology or equivalent degree from an accredited University, and twelve (12) years of relevant experience.
Required: Holds a professional registration in the province/territory of work; if currently practicing outside of BC, eligibility to obtain professional registration within one year.
Desired: Holds a post graduate degree.
Brings enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a strong desire to join and contribute to an amazing team.
Demonstrate creativity and a willingness to learn new things and expand horizons.
Proficient project management skills including budgeting and scheduling activities
Demonstrated experience in environmental consulting
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed
Salary Range (in British Columbia) $96,200 to $132,200
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
