Cummins Inc. Health and Safety Technician - Level I (3rd Shift) in York, South Carolina

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Health and Safety Technician – Level I to join our team specializing in Health and Safety for our Cummins Inc. facility in York, SC .

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Supporting Health and Safety : Provide essential support to production and site personnel on health and safety matters, ensuring a safer work environment under the guidance of the site HSE leader.

  • Reviewing HSE Systems : Assist in the review and sustainability of Health & Safety Management Systems, contributing to continuous improvement and compliance.

  • Understanding Policies and Procedures : Gain a basic understanding of local health and safety policies, procedures, and emergency response processes, enhancing your ability to support the team effectively.

  • Closing Compliance Gaps : Support the closure of gaps in compliance with local regulatory health and safety requirements, helping the organization meet legal standards.

  • Promoting Safety Culture : Build an understanding of HSE culture and communicate effectively to create safety awareness among employees, fostering a proactive safety environment.

  • Participating in Inspections and Audits : Take part in health and safety inspection and audit programs, identifying potential hazards and ensuring adherence to safety standards.

  • Supporting Incident Reporting and Investigation : Assist in reporting work-related injuries, illnesses, incidents, or hazards, and support the implementation and maintenance of hazard identification, incident investigation, and risk assessment processes.

  • Maintaining Quality Standards : Follow all applicable standard work, process documentation, and quality procedures, performing quality checks and identifying non-conforming materials to minimize cost and quality exposures.

  • Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis : Conduct quality, evidence-based investigations of HSE incidents, ensuring accurate root cause analysis and effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • HSE Management Systems : Interpret and apply international standards within the operating environment to achieve and maintain an effective management system and external certification.

  • Manufacturing Knowledge : Demonstrate knowledge of manufacturing processes by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications to meet functional needs and drive continuous improvement.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

  • A two-year University degree in Industrial Safety or related field preferred.

  • Minimal or no work experience required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Information

  • Onsite position

  • Hours: 11 pm to 7:30 am with a Sunday night start

  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and industrial settings.

  • Ability to lift 20 pounds and walk or stand for extended periods.

  • Ability to talk with individuals or to speak with a group for employee engagement, to conduct training or incident investigation.
