TEKsystems IT Facilities Technician in York, Pennsylvania
Description:
Seeking a IT Field Technician to join the IT facilities department. This contract is slated as an indefinite contract, but budgeted in 12 month intervals. There is a chance for permanent hire if a position opens up on the team. This company is in the process of standardizing 300+ network closets. This team does a complete assessment of the closets (Checking for power, labeling, air conditioning, cleanliness, etc). The team will compile a list of Network closets and divvy up the work to the field techs to assist with breakfix (Installation of equipment- Upgrading and replacing large Batteries). The work consists of new construction, renovation and maintenance projects.

General Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Manager-IT Facilities, performs basic customer support activities for equipment and systems products such as wiring, cabling, power, fire suppression and environmental. Provides basic administrative and technical support in the monitoring and maintenance of the facilities management and infrastructure support of multiple data centers and critical infrastructure environments within System owned/leased buildings. Assists in operation and monitoring of a large array of power and cooling systems at multiple data centers in accordance with established procedures. Works indirectly with IT Operations, Network Services, Service Desk, Office of Production Quality, Technology Services, Facilities and Property Management departments and vendor partners to resolve specific issues and maintain high system availability and reliability. Refers more complex problems to experienced field technicians to resolve specific issues and maintain high system availability and reliability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in detection, analysis, documentation and resolution of service availability problems related to data center power, fire suppression and environmental systems hardware. Uses resources such as technical documentation, system knowledge, troubleshooting skills and other support teams to gain further experience of IT Facilities hardware and procedures.
Assists in review of equipment logs for errors and determination of corrective action. Uses a core set of technical skills to assist in sustainment of the daily operations of multiple data centers and critical infrastructure environments to support the patient care systems and their partners.
Aids in monitoring of equipment status to ensure high quality and reliability, principally focused on power and cooling systems. Interfaces with systems by using commands, utilities, interface panels and documentation.
4.Participates in IT Facilities preventive maintenance and other management control programs.
Updates IT Facilities equipment outage and history logs, procedural documentation, building maps and drawings and equipment manual libraries and forwards to the IT Facilities Coordinator for processing and filing.
Follows Standard Operating Procedures and MOP's during scheduled and unscheduled service downtime events.
Participates in data center and network closet related projects and technology initiatives.
Participates in the receipt, processing and data entry of maintenance/repair requests (work orders) through the automated work order system.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
The overall role will be to input and add to building/room diagrams as it pertains to IT Facilities standards. For example, going to the physical location and reviewing the set up of the room. Looking for things like where the wall jacks should go; what is the current set up of panels. If new construction, helping to draw out diagrams on how the room should be set up based upon standards. This client has existing templates for various types of rooms. The schematics and diagrams will them be approved by IT facilities leadership and then approved to move forward. There are external vendors who then will physically build out the room based upon these specs. Validating the build is going correctly is part of this IT Facility Analysts role.
Additional details:
The IT Field Techs work in ALL facilities, including clinical settings, but within those settings, they are generally working in the IT Closets. And from the job title, it should be clear that they will spend a good bit of time in the field.
Lastly, this team cover sites across 5200 square miles, covering seven counties. York is centrally located and a good starting point for someone in this role; as they will work in York hospital and the local area and also have to travel to Lebanon, Lancaster, Ephrata, Chambersburg, Greencastle, Shippensburg, Carlisle, Gettysburg and all points in-between. Anywhere we have hospitals, family practices, urgent care clinics, etc. we are responsible for the IT Closets in those facilities.
Mileage reimbursement will be covered; minus the daily commute.
The IT Field Service Analyst role has four main functions. They are;
- The assessment, design and installation of redundant hardware for NEW BUILDS, that support the network, storage, compute, and security teams, to include;
a. Space (Performing Capacity Planning and Design)
b. Power (Determining and Properly Sizing Redundant Electrical Hardware Components and Installing Them)
