Histology Technician - YH Pathology - Nights
Location: York Hospital, York, PA
Schedule: Full Time
Full Time (80 hours/pay period)
Nights
2:00a - 10:30a M-F; shift times may vary at times
General Summary
Performs a variety of technical and general duties. Functions in one or more laboratory division.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs a variety of routine and specialized histology techniques in concurrence with established laboratory policies and procedures.
Supports the preparation of microscopic slides including tissue processing, paraffin block sectioning and H&E staining.
Produces high-quality slides from frozen or fixed tissues, including trimming, embedding, processing, sectioning using a microtome/cryostat, and staining with appropriate stains.
Performs equipment maintenance, reagent recycling/reclamation and efficient use of the pathology laboratory information system and specimen tracking system.
Enters or retrieves data from established computer files.
Required for All Jobs:
Performs other related duties as identified.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
- 2 years Relevant experience. Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good communication and computer skills.
