Position: Geotechnical Engineering Internship

Travel: Based out of York office, regular site visits +/- 50%

We are currently looking for Interns pursuing a B.S. in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering to join our Wagman Heavy Civil team. Reporting to direct office supervision, the Intern will be assigned various tasks from management and work with the engineering team on the assigned projects. Tasks may include, but not limited to, reviewing drawings and specs, assisting in ordering of materials, tracking progress, submittals and RFIs, pile and tie-back load testing, and more. Walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, and carrying up to thirty 30 pounds is a requirement. The ideal candidate should be able to take and follow instructions as well as be able to work independently and communicate effectively. This position works alongside the entire Project Team to support the completion of assigned construction projects and ensures all plans move forward to meet projected deadlines in a safe manner. This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.

This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

The following essential functions will be performed under the general direction of managers in various departments of the company: * Assist in preparing work plans. * Track and record field production quantities * Assist with quantity takeoffs * Coordinating subcontractor work * Procuring materials and equipment for upcoming work * Perform schedule updates * Perform document control tracking and processing * Assist in gathering pricing for Bids. * Help prepare design submittals * Perform field QC testing, including load tests, and reporting

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
  • Frequent standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, and kneel occasionally throughout a scheduled work shift.
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipu ation tasks with both hands.
  • Acceptable corrected vision in both eyes and acceptable corrected hearing required.
  • Must have the ability to work on uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather
