UPMC Dosimetrist - (Hillman Cancer Center) - Pinnacle in York, Pennsylvania
Purpose:
We are seeking a clinically excellent Medical Dosimetrist to join our team at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Pinnacle team. This position will provide Dosimetry support to Pinnacle West Shore (Harrisburg, PA), East Shore (Harrisburg, PA), York (York, PA), and Carlisle (Carlisle, PA) locations. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement that blends on-site duties with work-from-home capabilities.
Collaboration and remote support across the group is facilitated by our integrated ARIA/Eclipse and Citrix-based IT infrastructure, as well as standardized policies, procedures, and care pathways across UPMC.
Job Summary:
The Medical Dosimetrist is responsible for generating clinically optimal treatment plans for radiation therapy patients in collaboration with radiation oncologists, radiation therapy technologists, and medical physicists. This includes participating in CT simulation, radiation treatment planning, quality management for radiation oncology patients, and communicating with the clinical team during treatment planning and treatment plan implementation. Treatment techniques include 3DCRT, IMRT, VMAT, SRS, SBRT, motion management (e.g., respiratory gating and DIBH), and HDR brachytherapy.
Responsibilities:
Use radiographic, CT and MRI images to delineate tumor volumes and the other critical anatomical structures.
Manage the development of treatment plans, acquisition and storage of data for treatment plans, calculation of dose distributions and machine settings for treatment delivery.
Perform monthly quality assurance procedures on computers used for daily patient dose calculations.
Maintain a comprehensive quality assurance program that ensures patients are provided tumor localization, radiation treatment, and dose distributions as prescribed. This includes assurance of the accuracy of treatment unit parameters.
Keep current on the new treatment planning techniques, devices, and methods.
Provide remote consultation to the Radiation Oncologist on the physical and radiobiological aspect of treatment. Translate the desired treatment plan into a set of instructions for radiation therapists to execute.
Participate, when needed, in clinical research for the development and implementation of new techniques.
Obtain and disseminate information pertaining to current practices within the field of Radiation Oncology Physics.
B.S. degree in sciences or equivalent experience and training in radiation therapy.
Formal training in Medical Terminology/Anatomy/Tumor Biology/Radiation.
Graduate from a recognized Medical Dosimetrist Training Program or equivalent clinical training.
Experience with conformal radiotherapy, 3-D treatment planning systems required, radiosurgery on IMRT highly desirable.
2 years working as a Medical Dosimetrist preferred. Experience with MicroSoft Office products preferred.
Certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board strongly preferred or equivalent experience. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
