Actalent Design Engineer in York, Pennsylvania

Actalent Engineering is seeking qualified candidates for a Design Engineering opening with an equipment manufacturer that is located in York, PA. This person will be responsible for the design, development and engineering of steel equipment. This includes utilizing SolidWorks and AutoCAD to creating solid models and drawings, performing engineering calculations, reviewing standards, creating BOMs, assisting with sales and customer support.

Below is a summary of responsibilities for this position:

  • Design new equipment (usually starting with similar reference designs)

  • Create drawings (50% of the time) using mostly SolidWorks and some AutoCAD

  • Create solid models using SolidWorks (25% of the time)

  • Check other’s design/fabrication drawings (10% of the time)

  • Perform engineering calculations (by hand, spreadsheet, etc.) (5% of the time)

  • Create items, bills of materials, etc. using ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems (Bluestar PLM and Microsoft D365) (5% of the time)

  • Review internal, customer, and industry standards to assure compliance with project requirements

  • Evaluate vendor bids and drawings to assure compliance with specifications

  • Assist sales, service engineering, and production departments, as required

  • Provide engineering-related customer support (by phone, email, and occasional travel to customer sites) to assist with product quality assurance, installation/commissioning, and troubleshooting as needed

  • Independently set goals, adhere to budgets, and meet assignment deadlines

  • Utilize strong planning, decision-making, and troubleshooting skills to identify potential solutions and evaluate possible outcomes effectively

Below is a summary of requirements for qualified candidates:

  • A 4-year Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical engineering degree and 3+ years related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience)

  • Solid knowledge (3+ years experience) of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office

  • Solid understanding of drawing detailing, design, bills of materials, and established procedures

  • Above-average organizational, planning, and written/oral communication skills

  • Solid understanding of welding, fabrication, and machining processes

  • Hands-on experience with the assembly, repair, and/or troubleshooting of heavy, industrial, electro-mechanical machinery is a plus

  • DriveWorks(Xpress) experience is a plus

  • Electrical/automation experience (design and/or hands-on) is a plus

  • Supervision/management/leadership experience is a plus

  • Hydraulics experience is a plus

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $36.00
