Position Overview:
The Inbound Freight Specialist position is responsible to assist the Transportation Supervisor as needed to delegate tasks within the department, lead special projects and maintain excellent customer service within the department.

Responsibilities:
- Review logistic needs of larger than average or more complicated loads to determine any risks, costs and potential challenges.
- Provide solutions to risks, costs and potential challenges of larger or more complicated loads.
- Provide guidance to Coordinators and Clerks on the most economical mode of transportation to meet the economic guidelines of the delivery.
- Responsible to provide guidance to Coordinators and Clerks to assist in their learning of Transportation and development within the Department.
- Maintain Excel spreadsheets of carrier performance and cost to assist with Carrier scorecard.
- Maintain financial spreadsheets in excel to include cost break down of loads and statistic information provided to Management team.
- Receive direction from the Inbound Transportation Supervisor on process/procedure changes and instructs the rest of the team of the changes.
- Assigns tasks within department based on priority of loads and follow up to ensure completion.
- Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Continually looking outside the box for improvements in processes and practices.
- Complete any additional responsibilities and/or duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years' experience in a transportation/distribution environment required.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to comprehend and accurately complete all documentation.
- Working ability with AS400 and MS Office applications
- Ability to complete assignments in the time allotted.
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all team members.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for an extended period of time at a desk.
- Ability to work on a computer for extended period of time.
- Ability to see, hear, and speak regularly.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
