Rising Ground Residential Director of Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Services in Yonkers, New York
Overview
The Residential Director would oversee a case load of eight (8) community homes for individuals with developmental disabilities. Accountable for the development, direction, and coordination of supports for individuals receiving services from the I/DD Services department. Actively supports the organization’s mission and core values, endorsing a culture of people-centered choice and their achievement of the highest quality of life.
Responsibilities
Program Development
Participates in the application for funding to provide residential services to adults with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities based on people served needs and desires
Creates, implements, and enforces policies and practices that reflect the mission and philosophy of the organization and funding sources
Coordinates with other departments such as Clinical, Finance, General Services, QI, Development, and Human Resources
Coordinates the management of Reportable Incidents through to their conclusion for residential programs
Monitors Human Rights issues in regard to behavior management and the use of psychotropic medications
Works closely with the Director Entitlements and Community Affairs to ensure full census and benefits for those individuals deemed eligible for Residential Services
Delivery of Habilitative Services
Develops, facilitates, and models appropriate treatment models and techniques used in residential settings for adults with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities.
Provides I/DD Staff with the resources necessary to meet criteria of Residential Services and Community Inclusion
Monitors adherence to regulations and standards for the field
Completes observations at all residential settings at least monthly
Reviews the staff action plans to ensure meets all regulatory regulations
Oversees delivery of services to all individuals served in assigned programs and ensures that services are properly documented
Recommends changes in the delivery of treatment programs based on service outcomes
Planning and Administration
Develops and implements outcome monitoring system for staff action/habilitation plans in coordination with all services provided to the person served
Ensures adherence to standards for OPWDD funded programs
Creates and manages budget through subordinate supervisors
Represents unit, department, or division in multi-disciplinary meetings
Represents organization with governmental agencies, community groups, community based organizations, and families of residents.
Participates in the development and monitoring of each programs P.E.I.s
Management and Supervision
Responsible for: conducting one unannounced visit per month to I/DD IRAs and completing the unannounced visit checklist during each visit and reporting results to Vice P resident and Director QI within one week of visit; and following up on action items at next unannounced visit
Actively reviews all evaluation and disciplinary action
Ensures that staff meet mandatory training requirements
Provides coaching and mentoring to subordinates
Provides on call emergency follow up and guidance as needed
Must be culturally sensitive to the population being served
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages subordinates who supervise direct care and clinical staff in the Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Department’s, I/ DD Residential Programs.
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of each program in conjunction with the Vice president of I/DD Support Services, Coordinator of Intake and Entitlements and the Senior Vice President for I/DD Services.
Gives direct supervision to non-supervisory employees who work within the I/DD offices.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Required/Master's degree preferred or equivalent; and at least 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Including at least 4 years in a supervisory position where supervise multiple sites.
