Naval Facilities Engineering Command WEIGHT HANDLING EQUIPMENT TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST in Yokosuka, Japan

Summary You will serve as a Weight Handling Equipment Transportation Specialist in the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, Public Works Business Line, and Transportation Product Line of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD FAR EAST. Responsibilities You will audit/review the WHE program execution across the Area of Responsibility in compliance with NCC (Navy Crane Center) audits, as directed by the Transportation PLC (Product Line Coordinator). You will provide WHE technical support and training of personnel at naval shore activities within the area of responsibility, and other areas upon request. You will provide policy/oversight for the work sections at multiple installations, that initiate WHE (Weight Handling Equipment) alteration and modification requests. You will provide oversight on WHE plans, prepare detailed estimates, specifications, and work control documents. You will detail cost estimates of projects requiring prior authorization and/or special allocation of funds. You will have extensive experience with Weight Handling Equipment operations as well as Fleet Management of Civil Engineering Support Equipment (CESE). Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector evaluating all areas of the weight handling equipment programs, including equipment conditions, maintenance programs and repairs, regulatory compliance, and associated functions, as they relate to the safe operation of cranes. Additional Conditions of Employment: Work in hazardous areas where conditions cannot be controlled is intermittent and may be subject to hazardous pay. Work may also be in the open and subject to extreme weather conditions including a wide range of temperatures. Work may be at heights exceeding 50 feet for which the incumbent will receive specialized fall protection training and equipment. Work may be in areas where the incumbent will or might be exposed to radiation, radioactive contamination, or radioactive material and will receive specialized training and be monitored for radiation exposure. Work may be conducted at sites where explosive handling evolutions are in progress. Additional Information: This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.
