MultiCare Health System Senior Patient Financial Navigator - Bilingual Required in Yakima, Washington

FTE: 1.0, Shift: Days, Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm Position Summary The Senior Patient Financial Navigator at MultiCare is a vital role in assisting patients and families to access financial resources. In this position, you will evaluate the financial situations of uninsured or underinsured patients and determine eligibility for financial assistance helping to ensure health care for all community members. Responsibilities You will explain topics of insurance coverage, treatment costs, local and national alternative coverage opportunities, and financial assistance opportunities to the patient, relative or patient's representative You will provide expertise and education in the areas of Medicaid eligibility, Social Security Disability and any available government programs You will work with self-pay patients that do not qualify for government assistance programs to resolve accounts You will recommend patient services for charity write-off Requirements Associate's degree with business emphasis, public health administration or similar degree preferred One (1) year of business or college course work required - relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements Completion of a medical terminology course or proficiency preferred Certified as an Application Counselor (CAC) or obtain certification within 90 days of hire Five (5) years of experience in healthcare collection, financial counseling, insurance benefit verification and/or precertification, third party payer, Medicaid case work or billing experience of which two years is as a Washington State Certified Navigator Our Values As a MultiCare employee, we'll rely on you to reflect our core values of Respect, Integrity, Stewardship, Excellence, Collaboration, Kindness and Joy. Pay and Benefit Expectations We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $21.90 - $31.51 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
