We are seeking a qualified and experiencedPrecision Measurement Instructorto teach a variety of precision measurement tools and techniques to individuals within a [Department of Correction (
DOC) facility/related industry setting]. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of industrial measurement instruments and have the ability to instruct and mentor learners on the proper use of tools such as rules, tape measures, dial calipers, micrometers, gages, and more.
This position plays a vital role in equipping students with the technical skills and precision required to perform high-quality measurements in a variety of manufacturing, construction, and quality control environments.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Provide classroom and hands-on instruction on the use of a variety of precision measuring instruments, including but not limited to:
- Rules and tape measures
- Dial calipers and micrometers (outside, depth, etc.)
- Gages (including small hole, telescoping, and dial bore gages)
- Angle measurement tools
Demonstrate the proper techniques for accurately measuring and assessing dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards in accordance with industry specifications.
- Develop and deliver a structured curriculum covering measurement theory, tool calibration, safety protocols, and practical application of precision tools.
- Monitor and assess students progress, providing feedback, guidance, and troubleshooting assistance as needed.
- Ensure that students understand and follow safety procedures when handling and operating measuring instruments.
- Administer written and practical exams to evaluate student performance and understanding of measurement techniques.
- Maintain and prepare teaching materials, instructional aids, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with [ DOCfacility] guidelines and quality standards in all teaching activities.
Additional Considerations
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree or certification in precision measurement, mechanical engineering, manufacturing echnology, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience working with precision measuring instruments in an industrial or educational setting.
