About the Role

Please note this is a fixed-term contract.

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Author to join our Central Product Stewardship Team at BD. The ideal candidate will independently author SDS for a wide range of chemical products, maintain all supporting processes, and support the implementation of new functionalities in the SDS Authoring process. This role requires a deep understanding of SDS legal requirements and the ability to implement them effectively.

Main responsibilities will include:

• Author GH/CLP/OSHA-compliant SDS for a diverse range of substances and mixtures globally.

• Provide current SDS for new products, changes to existing products, and product trials.

• Assess products’ chemical composition and classify them in accordance with applicable country regulations.

• Research hazards and properties of components to make appropriate SDS product classifications for global regulations.

• Maintain substance data and other SDS-related data.

• Maintain and submit CLP Classification and Labeling and Poison Centers Notifications.

• Maintain SDS and substance data process documentation.

• Provide guidance on GHS labeling requirements.

• Work within defined rules and processes to identify and assemble appropriate information within the SAP SDS platform to produce accurate SDS.

• Maintain SDS request process.

About you

• University degree in Chemistry, Biology, HSE, or Life Sciences.

• Previous work experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, or medical device company.

• Strong chemistry background coupled with Product Stewardship experience on content and authoring of SDS documents and labeling requirements.

• Strong knowledge of GHS, CLP, and OSHA regulations and hazard classification process.

• Experienced in SDS authoring tools, ideally SAP; SDS Author certification will be a plus.

• Very good communication skills and ability to work in an international environment.

• Ability to work independently and within (virtual) teams. Good team player.

• Ability to manage time-critical deliverables within established deadlines, taking into account changing business priorities.

• Very good Excel skills and good data management skills.

• Fluent command of the English language.
