Position Summary:

Provide leadership and management to the Float Pool Department. Responsible for the operational management, coordination and oversight of the staff deployed at designated sites. Ensure appropriate systems are in place to drive recruitment and retention, financial results, staff performance, patient, staff and physician satisfaction. Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement business plans, measure performance, and develop and implement improvements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day staffing assignments and issues within area of responsibility while fostering an environment of continuous improvement and maintaining high standards for service that supports The Reliant Experience to patients, providers and others

  • Overall operational responsibility for the routine business and functions including processing site requests for staff deployment, assessing critical needs, managing schedules, review and development of staff, timely and accurate submission of Payroll, management of staff time off requests

  • Develop and conduct group and individual trainings with site leaders on the Float Pool including process to request staff, assessment of site need, scheduling and budget implications. Review and revise for improvements periodically

  • Resolve clinical-administrative issues within area of responsibility and keep lines of communication open with staff to ensure high employee morale and a professional presence. Is accountable and holds team accountable for maintaining the highest possible performance standards. Work with site leadership to meet agreed upon commitments even under difficult circumstances

  • Monitor staff training and performance by seeking input from placement site leadership, provide regular feedback to staff for ongoing improvement and development. Work with organizational leaders to ensure new trainings are conducted via new policies and initiatives

  • Develop and implement new processes to improve efficiency and maximize site use of Float Pool Staff

  • Collaborate with site management on common issues such as performance, recruitment, training, scheduling and priority assignments

  • Ensure staff working in compliance with expected standard work for their job role, established policies, procedures, quality assurance programs, safety and infection control policies and procedures including required compliance assessment completion

  • Maintain knowledge of EMR with the ability to navigate through various types of situations. Review team’s work periodically to assess performance, i.e. nursing messages, and review site schedules, as needed

  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as needed

  • Ensure the highest level of staff performance and patient satisfaction. Interact with site leadership to respond to and address concerns or issues as needed. Work with physician, staff and others to address and prevent problems

  • Meet regularly with site leadership stakeholders regarding Float Pool staffing and placement workflows for feedback. Regularly review performance reports available to assess staff and provide feedback (e.g. POS collections)

Required Qualifications:

  • High school or GED equivalent

  • 3+ years of managerial experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Managerial experience in a healthcare environment

  • Demonstrated business and financial planning skills such as budgeting, staffing ratios, healthcare billing and collections, etc.

  • Knowledge of a variety of software products/systems such as Microsoft Office Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, Power Point, Electronic Medical Record, Budgeting, etc.
