Under direction of the Chief Financial Officer, Optum Massachusetts (d.b.a., as Atrius Health and Reliant Medical Group), the Executive Director, Financial Planning & Analysis Leader is responsible for leading financial planning and analysis within the alignment of financial goals and targets for Optum MA.

The ideal candidate would work a hybrid schedule in either our Worcester or Boston, Massachusetts offices or we are also open to remote candidates as well in other locations

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Executes quarterly forecast cycles, including Optum deliverables, alignment across the Massachusetts market and market narrative

  • Leads annual operating/ planning budget process with integration with forecast cycles, harmonizing across Optum MA

  • Develops five-year and long-range plans and tie into the forecast cycles

  • Provides FFS and SGA reporting, budgeting, forecasting and analytics

  • In alignment with the Optum market, leverages organizational analytic resources to complete financial reporting, including DMS, BUS, and other applications

  • Manages administration and reporting/analysis of quarterly cycles related to capital process

  • Conducts business and financial analysis’ that advance the strategic directive of Optum Massachusetts

  • Directs implementation of new Axiom modules and process development to create harmonization across market

  • Leads financial systems integration activities with Optum

  • Assists in the strategic transition of Atrius and Reliant finance teams into statewide structure

  • Explores and identifies opportunities for advancing business interests and works with various clinical and non-clinical departments to assess feasibility of potential initiatives and projects

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics or Accounting (or equivalent education, training or experience)

  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in Finance, at least 3 at the managerial level

  • Microsoft Suite of products proficiency

  • Budgeting process experience

  • Large healthcare organization experience

  • Concepts and methodologies with non-financial staff

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in use of financial forecasting techniques and applications

  • Healthcare experience in use of forecasting

  • Excellent written, verbal , and presentation communication skills, and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities

  • Team player, have solid interpersonal skills, and be capable of discussing complex

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, Washington, D.C. Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $122,100 to $234,700 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
