Patient Safety is a dynamic team within Retail Store Operations responsible for the ongoing development and oversight of various programs and day-to-day activities designed to assist our store teams and field leaders in prioritizing patient safety in our 9,000+ community pharmacies.

With superior organization, communication, and collaboration skills and a patient-safety focused mindset, the Senior Analyst, Patient Safety will act as the liaison to our front-line pharmacy teams and field leaders, supporting patient safety events and inquires. Under the direction of the Patient Safety Senior Manager, this role will also partner cross-functionally to support various programs, policies, and communications aimed at continuous improvement of our safety strategy.

In addition to supporting our store teams and field leaders, this role requires frequent collaboration with internal business partners across store operations, and will routinely interact with the following groups: The Enterprise Patient Safety Organization (EPSO), Legal, Compliance, IT Services, Risk Management, Customer Relations, Pharmacy Merchandising, Quality, Clinical, Professional Practice, Retail Pharmacy Call Center (RPCC,) and Payer Relations.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Store and Field Support (50%):

  • Manage a shared mailbox, triaging and supporting a variety of patient safety related inquiries, program access, and service tickets (may require direct outreach and collaboration with store teams, field leaders, and other business partners)

  • Conduct investigations and root cause analysis of patient safety events to help identify areas of opportunity for systemic or process improvements; assist with the coordination of recovery for escalated events; draft written responses to quality care inquiries in collaboration with Legal Counsel

Patient Safety Programs (40%):

  • Support and monitor various in-process patient safety initiatives.

  • Assist the Senior Manager, Patient Safety with the compilation of data and preparation of materials used for presenting results to organizational leadership.

  • Assist the Senior Manager, Patient Safety with oversight and review of various patient-safety focused policies, procedures, and training materials

  • Assist the Senior Manager, Patient Safety with the drafting and execution of ad-hoc communication strategies

  • Participate in various collaborative working groups with other areas of the business that support patient safety programs

Continuous Quality Improvement (10%):

  • Identify opportunities for improvements to standard operating procedures and programs; assist Senior Manager, Patient Safety with development and implementation

  • Collaborate effectively with Patient Safety team members in a protected manner, sharing learnings from investigations and root cause analysis to support continuous quality improvement

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong personal integrity and judgement, evidenced by experience managing highly sensitive and confidential information

  • Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by successful collaboration to achieve shared goals

  • Strong time management skills, evidenced by experience being accountable to multiple deliverables with staggered deadlines

  • Ability to build fast, credible relationships with leaders, peers, and clients/customers

  • Strong communication skills in both formal and informal writing and speech

  • Demonstrated growth mindset and willingness to learn and accept feedback

  • Ability to triage issues effectively and in a timely manner, identifying urgency and prioritizing as needed

  • Any additional tasks as directed by the supervisor or manager

  • Functional knowledge of RxConnect, or other electronic health records/pharmacy dispensing systems

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, such as Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to travel occasionally

  • 3-5 years prior relevant work experience

  • Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)

Education

High School Diploma or General Equivalent Development (GED)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$46,988.00 - $112,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
