Job Description

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Psychology Assistant to join the team at the Woodward Resource Center (WRC). This is a full-time position with opportunity for advancement, growth, and development.

As a Psychology Assistant at WRC, you'll play a vital role in supporting individuals in our community to live their best lives.

As part of the WRC team, you'll:

  • Ensure the rights of individuals are respected and upheld.

  • Utilize appropriate management and training techniques to address individual needs.

  • Provide continuous active treatment programs to promote independence.

  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment for individuals.

  • Complete administrative procedures to enhance the WRC mission.

  • Assist in developing and implementing treatment programs and train staff using Competency-Based Training methods.

  • Conduct, summarize and interpret program data for Treatment Program Manager, psychologist and other Interdisciplinary Team Members

  • Interact with individuals with sensitivity, dignity, and respect.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Special Education, Guidance and Counseling, or Human Development and Behavior;

OR

One year of full-time technical level work experience in the areas mentioned above (such as psychiatric aide, Youth Service Worker, Social Work Associate, Social Worker, Vocational Rehabilitation Assistant, Resident Treatment Worker, Vocational Instructor, or Drug Abuse Counselor) may be substituted for each 30 semester hours of the required education.

Additional Qualification Requirements

For certain designated positions at Glenwood and Woodward Resource Centers, applicants must be a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, or obtain the required certification within a period of time as specified by the appointing authority at the time of hire.
