Job Description:

The Laundry Production Manager leads the daily laundry operations and oversees Central Laundry processes. They are accountable for the supervision of Central Laundry employees in the processing, replacement, and delivery of laundry for Intermountain Healthcare's hospitals and organizations that contract with Intermountain for services.

Oversees and coordinates the scheduling of non-exempt laundry employees to ensure a continuous, competent workforce. Assigns employees to workstations. Coordinates production schedules with shipping department delivery requirements. Plans daily staffing and authorizes leave requests. Coordinates equipment maintenance scheduling to ensure productive output is met and/or delivery schedules are maintained. Coordinates with lead personnel to maximize the use of available FTE's. Schedules part-time FTEs to production requirements.

Supervises all laundry production departments. Monitors production reports hourly from each department. Compiles hourly and daily production reports. Observes equipment operation to make certain it is being operated properly and at optimum production speed.

Oversees the quality control of linen being processed and sent out to the Intermountain Healthcare hospitals. Provides spot checks of finished work to ensure stains are being removed and/or mending has been done before items are ironed or folded. Checks finished appearance of ironed pieces to ensure ironer temperature, padding and covers are correct. Assists Quality Assurance clerk with program’s needs.

Develops and maintains reports and records on employees and laundry productivity. Completes individual daily productivity reports. Completes weekly and monthly production recaps. Ensures completion of the annual employee performance evaluations. Maintains rewash records. Reviews employee timecard daily and notes any problems needing action.

Oversees and makes recommendations regarding the training needs of all employees. Coordinates with lead personnel, on the job training for new employees. Observes new employees and reviews progress with them. Rotates all employees on a regular basis to different workstations to maintain or improve their job skills. Recommends training needs to Laundry Services Manager.

Oversees supplies and equipment to ensure that they are maintained, and any problems are resolved. Reports equipment problems to maintenance. Directs laundry count of in-service linen inventory by hospital, laundry, and system.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstratable leadership experience preferably in a large laundry production facility

  • Experience in a role requiring planning and organizing of resources and the ability to interpret and maintain detailed production reports.

  • Experience in a role requiring the ability to interact with employees from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of all aspects of a large industrial laundry operation.

  • Proficient in the areas of technical and computer knowledge necessary to operate laundry systems.

  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications.

  • Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Staff development skills and experience in a supervisory or leadership role

  • Experience in a role requiring lean / continuous improvement practices, success in organizing cross functional teams, and strategic goal setting initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

  • Five years’ experience in a lead capacity with a large hospital laundry having automated finishing equipment and material handling systems.

  • Experience in directing 50 or more employees in their normal work routines.

  • Industry credentials or certification in commercial laundry management

  • Professional experience in Change management, including facilitating change of process, services, and products.

  • Demonstrated experience in financial qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$33.01 - $50.97
