Skookum is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented CNC Machinist with a professional attitude. The CNC Machinist will be responsible for operating 3-axis and 4-axis machine tools to produce high-quality aerospace components. Works with the Setup Machinist to perform machining operations with close tolerances. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Operates CNC 3 & 4-axis machining centers with minimal supervision. Performs setup on 3 axis machining centers with minimal supervision. Inspects parts being machined to ensure high quality standards are being maintained. Able to run 2 machines when time allows. Deburrs parts while machine is running when time allows. Ensures work is clean and complete to specifications. Maintains clean and orderly work area. Follow process specifications, travelers, drawings, blueprints, rework/rejection tags, work instructions, relevant process controls, and verbal/written instructions. Perform tool changes and offset changes as needed. Works with measuring tools such as height gauge, micrometer, calipers, dial indicators, etc. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and standards. Preserves equipment with an emphasis on preventative maintenance requirements. Observe cutting tool inserts and replace tools as necessary to assure machine operation. Commitment to the improvement of CNC machined part processes. Employee will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the plant floor. Maintain professionalism in both appearance and demeanor. Has the ability to positively work with process improvements and changes in overall company processes. Qualifications: Knowledge of CNC equipment operation is required. Strong problem solving, social, and oral/written communication skills. Understands machining principles and supporting equipment for manufacturing processes. Technical, formal machinist training or trade school education with some advanced education in basic design and mechanical strengths is a plus. MasterCAM knowledge is a plus. 5-Axis knowledge is a plus. Experience with hard metals is a plus. Familiarity with ISO9001:2015/AS9100D is a plus. Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, strong understanding of geometric tolerancing and other visual specification layouts such as PCMs Physical Requirements:
