PS2 Polish Operator Trainee - 1st or 2nd Shift Job Overview Job Title: Production Support 2 - Polish Operator Trainee (Non-Experienced) Reports to: Value Stream Manager Location: Kent, WA Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly) Schedule: 1st or 2nd shift Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.) Who we are: Hytek Finishes is a leading aerospace and defense surface finishing company based in the Pacific Northwest within the Greater Seattle region. We work with industry leaders who build product for commercial aircraft to military aircraft to spacecraft. Our services range from anodizing, plating, non-destructive testing, painting, shotpeening, abrasive blasting, and polishing. Position Summary: As a Polish Operator Trainee, you will learn a range of techniques and tools for polishing parts including the use of wheel lathes, Dynafiles, and various hand tools to achieve customer driven visual requirements, most often to achieve a grain finish appearance. Polish Operators and Operator Trainee's each perform operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications. This role may be required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program*. *FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial pre-employment drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing. Core Responsibilities Learn to prepare and process parts using a variety of polishing techniques. Work closely with Experienced Polish Operators and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks. Will learn to follow shop traveler, technique card, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from experienced Operators and Department Leads. Learn to review and identify internal paperwork so as to ensure all previous operations were completed, notifying Production Supervisor and Quality Assurance team of any processing errors. Learns to Prepare Parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning. Learns to Prepare parts as called out in Purchase Orders and Tech Cards. Learns to Perform inspection, measuring, and testing or part surfaces as required. Learns to Maintain paint guns and paint booths ensuring cleanliness at the close of shifts. Learns to Perform pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements. Follow Quality Assurance requirements. Follow safety precautions as trained. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Ability to wear an N95 respirator as needed. *FAA Fit Test is Required Must have a regular and dependable attendance record. Ability to Read/Write Communicate in English with other employees, Customers, and auditors. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license may be required to work in all areas of the facility. Education/Previous Experience Requirements 1-2 years in a manufacturing or production environment a plus; working with wheel lathes and/or dynafiles is also helpful.
