Description We are seeking a Tax Staff for our public accounting firm based in Woodbury, New York. This role involves supporting our tax practice, working with individuals and businesses on their taxes, and preparing various tax forms. This is an excellent opportunity for those with a degree in accounting and a keen understanding of accounting functions and auditing.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of individual and business tax forms, including 1040's, 1120's, and others.

• Provide support to the tax practice team in meeting client tax obligations.

• Utilize accounting software such as CCH ProSystem Fx and Gosystem to manage and process tax data.

• Leverage Microsoft Excel to perform various accounting functions and ensure accurate record keeping.

• Provide excellent customer service by resolving client inquiries related to their tax accounts.

• Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations in all tasks performed.

• Regularly review and monitor customer tax accounts and take appropriate action when needed.

• Assist in auditing tasks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of tax records.

• Handle cash activity related to tax payments and refunds in a timely and accurate manner.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge about changes in tax laws and regulations and incorporate these changes into daily tasks. Requirements • Proficiency in tax software such as CCH ProSystem Fx and CCH Sales Tax

• Familiarity with Gosystem and other management systems

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills

• Comprehensive understanding of accounting functions and auditing principles

• Ability to manage cash activity effectively and efficiently

• Knowledge of tax compliance and regulations

• Exceptional customer service skills for dealing with client inquiries and concerns

• Experience in a public tax role would be advantageous

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency

• Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to take initiative

• A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required.
