Raytheon is currently seeking a Field Engineer to maintain and operate the RF systems that comprise the X-Band Radar (XBR) that is installed on the Sea Based X-Band (SBX-1) ocean-going platform. As a Field Engineer, your primary duties would include radar operator as well as conducting troubleshooting, technical analysis, and corrective actions of all radio frequency (RF) elements, to include receiver-exciters, transmit/receive modules, and beam forming networks for the XBR hardware. You will also support and execute radar modifications, and enhancements to the system in accordance with customer and technical specifications. This position will require working extended hours on multiple week rotations on an ocean-going marine vessel.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Work in a team environment to resolve equipment anomalies.

  • Execute preventative maintenance as defined in program technical manuals.

  • Annually work approximately 3 - 10 week rotations at sea, 12 hour shifts, 7 day per week, each followed by 8 weeks of home leave.

  • Capable of climbing and performing work at moderate heights above the ground.

  • Meet the requirements of an annual Maritime Physical examination.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and understand design drawings, specifications, and vendor technical documentation.

  • Ability to establish and assess the performance of RF systems, as well as in monitoring, troubleshooting, isolating failures and removing/replacing failed components in such systems.

  • Possession of an active Secret Clearance.

  • Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats regarding technical issues.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of desktop application software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 years’ experience in test, integration, maintenance, alignment, adjustment, calibration, and operation of RF equipment associated with radar systems, to include transmitters, receivers, fiber optics, control systems, cabling, and interconnects.

  • Experience interacting with customer representatives and coordinating actions with other contractors.

  • Experience working in a maritime shipboard environment for extended periods.

  • Familiar with Raytheon practices regarding technical documentation.

  • Familiar with US Department of Defense testing and acceptance practices for facilities sub-systems.

  • The ideal candidate will possess experience in troubleshooting radar hardware and RF signal path failures to determine corrective actions to restore radar systems to an operational state in accordance with product and customer specifications.

Education:

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in STEM Discipline but relevant work and/or military experience may be used in lieu of degree.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
