Novant Health is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist-Behavioral Health, to join our acute care pharmacy team, to deliver optimal medication management across all dimensions of care, every time.
The Behavioral Health Care Team pharmacist is responsible for the provision of comprehensive clinical pharmacy services for patients in inpatient behavioral health units including order verification, rounds, and pharmacokinetic and therapeutic consultation.
Schedule – rotating 1st and 2nd shift – 2 weeks of 1st shift and 1 week of 2nd shift, every 3rd weekend (1st shift – 0700-1530, 2nd shift – 1230-2100)
Behavioral Health experience is preferred
Residency training PGY1 or comparable acute care experience required

Essential functions include :
A Pharmacist is responsible for performance and/or supervision of various aspects of the medication use system including but not limited to: therapeutic recommendations, advocate for patient safety, preparation, distribution, monitoring, oversight of administration, and billing. This practitioner will be primarily based on the Behavioral Health Care Team and may cross-cover other areas as needed. The pharmacist’s focus is on the quality of care through comprehensive medication management.

Conduct comprehensive medication reviews for patients with mental health disorders to ensure safe and effective medication management
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans for patients with behavioral health conditions
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds
Serve as a drug information resource for healthcare staff and patients, providing education and guidance on the appropriate use of psychotropic medications
Monitor patient medication adherence, efficacy, and adverse effects and make recommendations for adjustments as needed
Develop and maintain specialized knowledge in the latest advancements and best practices in behavioral health pharmacy
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings to discuss patient progress and make recommendations for medication changes or adjustments
Provide counseling and education to patients and their families on medication use, potential side effects, and other relevant information
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to behavioral health pharmacy services
Serve as a mentor and resource for pharmacy students and residents

Qualifications
Education : 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, required. Doctorate of Pharmacy, preferred.
Experience : Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in health system pharmacy, required.
Licensure/Certification :
Current Pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) or must be completed within 30 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity, required.
Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification or other approved certification must be obtained and continuously maintained within 2 years of start date as applicable to the role; excludes PRN team members who may not be eligible to take certification exam, required.
Additional skills required : Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.
