Registered Nurse - Occupational Health 1.0 FTE, 80 hours per pay period Hours scheduled between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday No weekends or holidays Position Overview: The Occupational Health (OH) RN assesses risks, promotes wellness, prevents illness and injury, and works to protect employees from exposure to work-related or environmental hazards. The OH RN works closely with community businesses to assist in meeting their needs related to employment safety, health, and well-being. The OH RN positively represents Winona Health internally and externally and builds positive, strong relationships with caregivers, patients, and employers. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Remains up to date with current health and safety legislation. Ensures the health and safety of workers by performing assessments of worksites to maintain health and safety standards. Evaluate and suggest ways to reduce work-related injuries and promote employee safety. Collaborates with the OH team and others to offer the most comprehensive and timely evaluations and treatments with a goal of promoting healing and return to work. Educate employees in occupational risks, safety, and injury prevention. Completes and/or coordinates health screenings, inclusive of vital signs checks, drug and alcohol testing, hearing tests, vision tests, focused assessments, respiratory fit testing, and other screenings and tests as requested and deemed appropriate for the patient. Evaluate patients with work injuries and/or exposures by obtaining a medical and occupational history, interviewing the patient as to how the injury or exposure occurred, and through physician examination. Reviews other important information such as laboratory values, diagnostic imaging/screening tests, industrial hygiene, personal exposure monitoring values, and other information. Documents care provided to patients. Delivers patient care, including but not limited to completion of the intake process, performing assessments, health screenings, immunization administration, and other screenings and care as appropriate based on the condition and circumstances of the patient. Coordinates care for the patient as ordered by the provider (imaging, lab, specialty care services, rehab services, etc.). Assists with the laboratory functions in the OH service as needed (breath alcohol and drug screen collections, etc.). Coordinates patient care related to work injuries/exposures with the employer, assuring that regulatory standards are met. Works closely with employers to assure all documents are prepared and completed. Assists with ordering of supplies and vaccinations. Troubleshoots equipment as needed. Other duties as requested or assigned.
