Job Description Manufacturing CNC Fixture Designer 1801 Theurer Blvd, Winona, MN 55987 MN180 Manufacturing Facility Full-time Shift(s): MON TUE WED THU FRI 7:00am - 3:30pm OVERVIEW: Working as Full-time Manufacturing CNC Fixture Designer, you will design and aide in the creation of work-holding fixtures to be used in our horizontal mills, vertical mills and CMM's while producing custom parts. You will be responsible for providing the production floor with a fixture design optimized to provide efficient production, rigidity and repeatability, while maximizing tooling efficiency and minimizing cost. You will provide technical support to the CNC programing and production groups as required. This position may offer a flexible schedule after a period of onboarding, training, and meeting performance goals. RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: o Planning and designing all necessary tool components assigned by using resources available to ensure optimum design at minimum fabrication expense o Designing fixtures and work-holding setups for horizontal, vertical, 5-axis mills and CMM inspections o Developing 3-D Models of fixturing to be used for CAM toolpath generation by CNC Programmers o Assisting and collaborating with production employees to develop efficient, reliable, and repeatable process to machine high and low volume runs of custom parts o Providing all fixture components necessary to complete the fabrication of assigned fixture orders o Participating in the design/build process with the tool room by generating a strong conceptual idea of the fixture and how it will perform the required results REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: The following skills and qualifications are required for this position: o 18 years of age or older, due to the nature of work o Possess at least 2 years of experience creating 3-D models OR a degree in CAD o Proficient using 3-D modeling software o Proficiency using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers and CMM inspection equipment o Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing o Excellent written and oral communication skills o Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite o Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail and sense of urgency o Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities o Work independently as well as in a team environment o Exhibit strong problem solving, deductive reasoning and decision making skills o Learn and perform multiple tasks in fast paced environment o Lift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 100lbs o Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY) PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: o Possess a 2-year CNC or machining degree o Possess at least 5 years of industry experience operating CNC mills o Prior experience with horizontal milling machines o Prior experience with MasterCam and/or Inventor o Prior experience with multiple operation, high volume runs o Demonstrate understanding of quick-change tooling o Demonstrate an innovative design ability ABOUT US: Since 1967 Fastenal has grown as a distributor of industrial and construction supplies from a single branch to a Fortune 500 company with over 3,000 servicing locations, each providing tailored local inventory and personal service for our customers.
