BASIC FUNCTION: Highly motivated to instill and maintain a culture of safety awareness in all team members throughout the organization. Must have a passion to consult with and coach team members in effective ways to work safety and protect all team members. Responsibilities include training and program assistance for all safety and health activities to ensure compliance with company, state and federal environmental health and safety policies and regulations. Conduct and document safety inspections, maintain safety training records, consult with team members to identify unsafe conditions, acts and procedures, as well as recommend corrective actions, and maintain safety equipment supply and availability. The Safety & Health Coordinator will have expert knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within this particular field of health and safety. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide technical and regulatory expertise to ensure occupational health & safety compliance at the site location that aligns with the corporation. Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to meet site safety standards. Assist with the analysis and report laboratory tests/titrations for manufacturing production departments that utilize chemicals. Provide leadership for the site concerning the site safety culture with contractors working on site. Provide strategic leadership and work with management on identified H&S issues/recommendations/opportunities to foster continuous improvement of H&S culture and performance. Review and implement standardized H&S policies and procedures, including but not limited to Job Safety Analysis, Management of Change, Incident/Accident investigation, ergonomics. Provide support for the Safety Committee, general safety and industrial hygiene programs. These activities involve facilitating H&S meetings and Job Safety Analysis reviews. Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify causes and to determine how to prevent reoccurrence. Compiles and completes all OSHA required reports. Manager the education & training safety programs. Initiate workers compensation reports and manage claims through claim closure. Work closely with Human Resources to track and support workers' compensation claims. Participate in capital project reviews consistent with the level of environmental, industrial hygiene and safety expertise needed. Support emergency response activities through the development of required drills and coordination of annual training. Contribute and support the Exposure Reduction Process (ERP) within your assigned area of responsibility. Develop & submit various agency health & safety reports for the company. Regular attendance, communication and meeting committed deadlines are all essential elements of the job. These requirements are key to the operation and effectiveness of this position and if not in place have the potential to impair and diminish expected results. Other duties as assigned.
