Earth Sciences and Engineering specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and/or supporting studies and projects generally concentrated within the water resources and water management sectors as related the energy, infrastructure, and mining/industrial sectors.

  • Overseeing hydrotechnical engineering analyses and designs in collaboration with Civil and Geotechnical Engineers, including design event estimation, flow regime studies, storage (e.g. dam) designs, water conveyance (hydraulic structure) designs; and, energy dissipation and erosion protection.

  • Preparing detailed technical reports, drawings, specifications, and correspondence.

  • Identifying key opportunities in the Hydrotechnical Engineering Discipline with a focus on their local region.

  • Assisting with developing business, writing proposals and engaging/presenting to clients.

  • Mentorship and development of junior engineers, designers, and technicians.

  • Undertaking technical reviews of documents and technical drawings prepared by the team.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources and/or Civil Engineering Hydrology and Hydraulics. Preference will be given to those with a Master degree.

  • 5+ years post-graduation Hydrotechnical Engineering experience in a multidiscipline environment.

  • Registered, or eligible to be registered, and licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer.

  • Demonstrated experience in a variety of Civil Engineering Hydrology and Hydraulics applications such as flood risk analysis, control and protection, small and large dam development, water management planning, water resource assessments, drainage design, and dam safety and rehabilitation.

  • Proven experience in the types of analyses and design processes required government guidelines and regulations.

  • Leadership skills with a proven aptitude to mentor and develop junior engineers, designers, and technicians.

  • Team focused with excellent interpersonal skills and understanding of multidisciplinary projects.

  • Client responsive with a history of successful business development.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills.

  • Good working knowledge of specialized Hydrotechnical software and modeling tools (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS) including GIS based applications. Computational Fluid Dynamics experience in Civil Engineering Hydraulics would be considered an asset, and ability to travel within Canada and internationally on short term assignments as required. Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
