SEYMOUR PACIFIC DEVELOPMENTS LTD. Estimator in Winnipeg, Manitoba
The Estimator is responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of full-cost estimates for multi-family residential or commercial construction projects throughout Canada. The role analyzes historical and incoming data from other departments and incorporates it into the project construction budget, working with the Senior Estimator to finalize the estimate for executive approval. The Estimator oversees the management of their respective estimates through to project completion.
A successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that our projects are planned and executed efficiently, within budget and to Seymour Pacific Development’s standards of quality. This position will be located in Winnipeg - Manitoba.
Your contributions to the team:
Preparation of thorough, accurate, and timely estimates using ProContractor Estimating software
Analyze project plans and specifications to determine the overall estimated cost of a project
Conduct thorough material take-offs, labour and equipment takeoffs
Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing all project costs, including materials, labour and project duration
Build-up of direct and indirect cost estimates for major residential and commercial projects
Document and maintain accurate records of cost estimates and other relevant documents to support project accounting and financial reporting
Create estimates and proposals for owner change orders, RFI’s, and comparative construction methods, aiding in design change decision making
Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour, and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications
Examine and analyze tenders received from various departments, and provide direction on anticipated value engineering
What you need to be successful:
Post-secondary diploma in Construction Management, Accounting or related field
Minimum 2 years working experience in a construction estimating role
Exceptional critical thinking, analytical and advanced problem-solving skills
Great attention to detail and a keen eye for quantitative and qualitative anomalies
Demonstrated success in working effectively both independently and as part of a team
Ability to prioritize and complete a variety of incoming tasks with varied deadline
Advanced skills in MS Office Suite and database systems
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Working knowledge of contract language and legal requirements of contracts
Excellent technical, organizational, and planning skills
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with well-developed communication and negotiation skills
Total familiarity and understanding of related computer estimating applications including budget code repositories, digital take-offs and scheduling software
Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing
