Job Title: Millwright

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Millwright to perform all duties as outlined by the Provincial Government in accordance with Regulated Trade 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright. The ideal candidate will possess all necessary hand tools, have extensive experience in preventive maintenance on all welders, weld fixtures, and other equipment in the facility, and be proficient in reading and interpreting micrometers, verniers, and other measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on all welders, weld fixtures, and other equipment in the facility.

• Read, interpret, and use micrometers, verniers, and other measurement tools.

• Operate and use machine tools, lathes, mills, and other equipment.

• Have working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.

• Line up shafts and couplings, motors, and drivers.

• Scrape and bed bearings ways, slides, and gibs.

• Determine the cause of breakdowns and establish actions for remedy.

• Evaluate equipment performance by sound and/or visual appearance.

• Troubleshoot automatic lube systems and ensure lubrication reaches all points.

• Remove broken pieces of equipment and repair by welding or replacement.

• Establish wear points and determine slop in crankshaft bearings, Pittman bearings, knuckle joints, etc.

• Complete overhauls and major repairs to all plant machinery and equipment.

• Have working knowledge of air logic and hydraulic logic controls.

• Sling, unload, and dismantle heavy equipment safely and efficiently.

• Understand the lifting capacities of various cables, slings, chokes, shackles, and related lifting gears.

• Level machine foundations and equipment installations to precise measurements.

• Read and follow instruction manuals, blueprints, drawings, and sketches for equipment installation and setup.

• Dismantle, match mark, and identify component parts for moving or shipping.

• Perform all welding functions and brazing using acetylene equipment, torches, or arc gouging torches.

• Guide an apprentice and helper/improver with minimal supervisory assistance.

• Certified Lift Truck Driver

• Experience in the automotive industry preferred, but open to food and other industries if applicable experience is present

Why Work Here?

We offer an annual raise of 1% for January 2026 and typically 2% annual raises, as per the new union agreement in June 2026. Employees gain seniority after 720 hours and benefit from a competitive benefits package, cost-of-living adjustments, a tooling allowance, and an RSP plan with company contributions of $0.75/hr.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of bi-weekly rotating shifts between days (6:30 am-3 pm) and afternoons (3 pm-11:30 pm). The building is very old and can be loud, but it is kept tidy and clean. The pay rate is $39.18/hr with an additional $0.80 afternoon shift premium.
