The Role
The successful candidate provides scalable manufacturing engineering solutions for our clients via process improvement and design change recommendations, supports service capability development, and partners with delivery and sales on campaign initiatives. You will take a leading role in our operations team as a Technical Manager leading technical aspects of opportunities, proposals, and projects. Ensure deliverable/quality review process and metrics are performing through development of training and standard work. Guide and develop employees on their individual technical career paths.
Job Functions
The Manufacturing Engineering Technical Manager is responsible for ensuring his/her knowledge is being utilized to grow and develop the team through active engagement in campaigns related to their area.
Technical Leadership
Team and capability development: Coaching and mentoring to build the next level of technical reviewers and technical leaders.
Technical guidance on deliverable reviews, collateral, and technology demonstrators.
Standard work - creation and maintenance. Review and sign off on technical reviews. Responsible for service-specific training program
Support technical capability assessments of the team members in your service and development of others in the manufacturing, quality, and/or operations proficiency building blocks.
Active engagement in new campaigns by determining technical skills needed for the program and new proposals. Meet with customers to understand requirements and identify solutions.
Support hiring and succession planning by conducting technical interviews and training other technical interviewers
Mapping career development plans. Review team’s skills and create competency matrix
Manage manufacturing engineers by holding accountable to KPIs, coach areas of improvements, suggest additional skill sets needed, manage manpower to ensure the right employees are in the right positions.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree / Master’s Preferred
8+ years of previous experience in manufacturing
3+ years of leadership experience
Good knowledge of various manufacturing processes within aerospace domain (traditional metal removal, advanced manufacturing, digital manufacturing and/or composite experience)
Hands on experience and success implementing the following process and product improvement tools: manufacturing readiness levels, PPAP, Process Certification, APQP, D/PFMEA, and control plans/inspection plans.
Ability To Interpret GD&T From model-based definition and legacy drawings.
Able to support root cause analysis and implementation of problem-solving techniques.
Fully conversant in reading and understanding Engineering & Manufacturing requirements:
Sound knowledge interpreting the GD&T (standards ASME Y 14.5, JES 161)
Sound knowledge in measurements system analysis (MSA)
Hands on experience in using various types of measuring & testing equipment, both contact - non-contact, analogue & digital
Working knowledge and experience of using QC tools and SPC analysis
Like to work in a fast paced, creative environment without a lot of management oversite. You are independent and forward facing.
Experience with customer service or working for a services company preferred
Due to the nature of the customers, US Citizenship is required
Additional Qualifications
Professional Certification (i.e. Blackbelt certification and /or Lean Expert certification, ASQ-CQE/CQA, CPIM, CSCP, PMP) preferred but not required
Program or project management experience a plus
Demonstrated capacity to meet aggressive deadlines while achieving excellent business results
Exhibits successful ability with indirect leadership of diverse teams deploying complex processes
Shows very strong written and oral communication skills to all stakeholders
Established ability to manage multiple complex projects at once
Location: Windsor, CT
Travel: up to 25%, as needed to remote office and customer locations
