Actalent Structural Engineer in Winchester, Virginia

Job Description

Our client is a growing engineering and consulting firm providing a full range of structural engineering and consulting services for a variety of project types. The firm, certified as a SWaM/Micro business entity, offers services such as structural design, forensic engineering, condition assessments, feasibility studies, and cost estimates. They also assist with master plans and budget planning for projects including administration facilities, educational institutions, municipal buildings, cultural centers, offices, airport terminals, utility buildings, and industrial buildings. The firm is experienced in BIM and traditional CADD formats and capable of performing both linear and non-linear dynamic modeling of buildings and structures.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Utilize Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD software with a focus on structural engineering design.

  • Edit and manipulate REVIT families and their parameters.

  • Set up new projects independently, link outside models into structural models, and extract model elements such as grid lines and project levels for use in the structural model.

  • Assist in the preparation of construction contract documents, plans, and reports.

  • Conduct structural engineering analyses and design for projects of all sizes, managing several projects concurrently.

  • Perform calculations using standard software.

  • Maintain strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Exhibit excellent English communication skills both written and verbal.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience in structural design projects (existing structures, structural renovations, new construction, wood framing, structural steel, etc.)

  • Experience managing design projects with oversight.

  • Ability to edit and manipulate REVIT families and their parameters.

  • Capability to set up new projects independently.

  • Familiarity with linking outside models into structural models.

  • Experience extracting model elements such as grid lines and project levels for use in the structural model.

  • Experience with residential or commercial projects.

  • Proficient in utilizing Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD software.

  • Strong experience in structural analysis and design, drafting, and structural steel.

  • Knowledge of STAAD software.

Work Environment

The position primarily involves working in an office setting with occasional site visits. The role offers hybrid flexibility but requires the candidate to be local to the Winchester, VA area. The typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time, with some exposure to the elements during site visits. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $45.67
