GE Vernova Senior Engineer – System Architecture (MBSE) (Remote Eligible, U.S.) in Wilmington, North Carolina

Job Description Summary

The Senior Engineer works within the Gen IV Advanced Design & Development group of GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, a part of GE Vernova. The AD&D team supports the design of advanced nuclear applications through technical leadership on early phase projects and delivering high caliber analyses of complex, first-of-a-kind technologies. AD&D is an interdisciplinary group of problem-solvers with high aptitude and flexibility. The Senior Engineer is a discipline leader with expertise in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) as applied to complex mechanical systems.

The applicant should understand modern systems engineering methods and have prior experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools. The Senior Engineer will apply these skills to develop new system architectures, optimize designs, and integrate design scope into other aspects of data-centric projects.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform scoping analyses to ascertain value of applying MBSE, define design goals, and select framework/approach for new projects.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to solve both technical and business challenges.

  • Create and manage/verify system requirements while interfacing with multiple disciplines through all phases of design.

  • Act as discipline lead, train/mentor other engineers, and continually work to improve legacy processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in an ABET-accredited engineering program.

  • Minimum of 10 years of combined engineering experience including complex systems engineering.

  • Demonstrable experience applying MBSE tools, establishing frameworks, and developing system architectures.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Systems engineering certification or advanced degree in a relevant technical discipline with concentrated study in model-based systems engineering.

  • Domain expertise in MBSE applied to physical and/or digital systems from product definition to system/project launch.

  • Demonstrable experience using MBSE to define and optimize design variables including efficiency, cost, and modularization.

The base pay range for this position is $112k-160k. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on 7/31/2024.

The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
