Summary

The Production Planner is an integral position of the Supply Chain Department and is responsible for building, organizing, and communicating an efficient production schedule that maximizes production efficiency while executing a strategy that reduces and optimizes finished goods and work-in-process (WIP) inventory, changeover costs, and satisfies customer demand. Further, this individual will be accountable for directly managing the activities to achieve the site inventory cost savings, volume, and customer service goals as well as the periodic organizational reporting and communication.

The Production Planner is required to be a natural collaborator with a clear vision of how a team must interact and communicate. By forming and maintaining superior relationships with all functional departments, this individual will promote an environment to help drive a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork throughout the organization and lead by example. Additionally, the maintenance and reporting of departmental goals that support the site strategy, and ensure overall customer satisfaction is critical to align with company and location standards of excellence.

Essential Duties

The Production Planner will be responsible for the finite scheduling of all Master Schedules. The Incumbent will build and organize an efficient finite production schedule on a short term (weekly to bi-weekly) and long term (1 month +) basis that maximizes production efficiency while minimizing raw material and work-in-process inventory, changeover costs and satisfy customer demand and honor scheduled ship dates. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create and maintain the Plant's finite production schedules on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis that balances production efficiency, raw materials and work in process (WIP) inventory to achieve the site’s desired customer service levels (On Time Shipping).

  • Directly managing WIP and finished goods inventory levels in accordance with the inventory plan and site continuous improvement goals (Total Inventory Value and Inventory Turns).

  • Maintain communication with Production, Shipping, Purchasing, Supply Planning, to provide a free exchange of information and ideas about scheduling plans so that necessary changes can be made smoothly to meet overall objectives. Maintain ongoing communications with supervisors, Supply Planning, and Buyer regarding schedule changes.

  • Perform or assist with physical inventory counts of raw material, WIP, and finished product as needed.

  • Participate in planning and establishing overall production objectives based on customer demand and sales forecasts. Lead weekly meetings to review and communicate planned schedules.

  • Assist the Materials Manager with managing, dispositioning, and eliminating slow moving and obsolete inventory.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to climb ladders and/or stairs and walk on open grating on elevated surfaces

  • Frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing

  • Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery

  • Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

  • Occasionally operate business machines

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds

Under This Roof, We Require

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain or similar discipline, coupledwith2yearsofdemonstratedexperienceinproductionplanninginahigh volumemanufacturingoperation(1,200+SKUs)withaproventrackrecordofprocess improvements and team collaboration

  • Demonstratedadvancedcommunication,analytical,andorganizationalskills

  • 3+ years of demonstrated proficient ERP or MRP experience and production planning experience.

  • 3+ years Master Data management experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Supply Chain Management, Lean, or specialized continuous improvement education a plus

  • Intermediate Excel user experience required. Advanced Excel user experience is a plus.
