job summary:

An Electrical Controls Engineering Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Wilmington, NC area. The role focuses on designing and modifying mechanical equipment using CAD software while providing hands-on installation support and troubleshooting in production environments.

salary: $35.67 - 49.94 per hour

work hours: 8am to 4pm

education: Associates

responsibilities:

  • Re-design mechanical components to reduce installation costs, solve equipment interferences, and correct inadequate designs.

  • Create, review, and update installation documentation and drawings as required.

  • Redline existing drawings and follow up with drafting services or oversee draftsmen to resolve design issues.

  • Execute design changes to solve equipment/process issues.

  • Take personal responsibility for ensuring designs meet form, fit, and function goals set by internal customers and project managers.

  • Provide sketches or marked-up drawings as needed for project and equipment modifications.

Skills:

  • Self-motivated and results-oriented.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to varied job requirements.

  • strong organizational skills and ability to work well in small teams.

  • Understanding and experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

  • Proficiency with pneumatic and electrical schematics.

  • Thorough understanding of mechanical drive trains and electrical/pneumatic actuators.

Education and Experience:

  • AAS in Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (equivalent work experience may be considered in rare circumstances).

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience.
