Job Summary
The Director of Women’s and Children’s Services reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer. This leadership role oversees internal operations, physician relationships, quality, service, and financial performance for key departments, including the Neonatal ICU, Pediatric ICU, Pediatric Unit, Pediatric Specialty Clinic, Women’s Unit, and Family Birthplace (LDR, Antepartum, Mother/Baby).

Leads using the mission and goals of the organization to direct the departments in a manner consistent with the mission and values of the organization.
Leads utilizing the principles of Service Excellence and meets established organizational and departmental Pillar Goals.
Monitors the performance of departments within the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, including:
Neonatal ICU
Pediatric ICU
Pediatric Unit
Pediatric Specialty Clinic
Women’s Unit
The Family Birthplace (LDR, Antepartum, Mother/Baby) relative to cost, quality, and value.
Collaborates with the Administrator and Business Manager for the Women’s and Children’s Hospital for financial management of all areas.
Assists with monitoring monthly budgets, equipment expenditures, and determining realistic revenue projections/goals.
Implements strategies to achieve financial objectives.
Provides leadership and facilitates the professional development of the Managers and Coordinators within the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Demonstrates the ability to respond positively to changing circumstances, maximizes opportunities, and minimizes problems.
Develops and maintains active relationships with nursing leadership peers.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with all medical staff, providing leadership and direction in matters relating to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Facilitates quality initiatives for all areas within the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in collaboration with the Department of Clinical Effectiveness and Patient Safety.
Models improvement processes in daily operations.
Maintains compliance with all state and regulatory standards.
Ensures quality service appropriate to patient age and developmental stage is provided to all Women’s and Children’s Hospital patients, consistent with the mission, vision, and values of NHRMC.
Provides planning for immediate and long-range needs, including:
Personnel
Equipment
Scheduling
Training/continuing education
Consolidation and cooperation with all areas that interact with the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Provides clinical expertise to assist with contract negotiations, purchasing/lease arrangements, and budgeting.
Assesses network-wide needs and works collaboratively with administration and medical staff to achieve goals within realistic time frames.
Assists in developing strategies for marketing the services of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Performs an annual analysis of departmental goals and develops follow-up plans to ensure relevance every 90 days.
Qualifications
Education: Masters Degree Required.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience, including 5 years in progressive leadership roles overseeing multiple departments.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current RN licensure in appropriate state required.
Additional Skills Required: Demonstrates excellence in teamwork, communication, and service, fostering a culture of patient satisfaction and service excellence. Strong financial acumen and ability to develop and implement strategies that meet operational and strategic objectives. Proven track record of compliance with state and regulatory standards. A commensurate combination of education, experience, and qualifications.
