Overview :
Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a Senior Application Developer to join their Wealth Digital Team. The successful candidate will support client-facing applications, applying their expertise in programming, web services, and service-oriented architecture (SOA). You will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of complex systems, as well as mentoring junior staff and collaborating across teams.
Primary Responsibilities :
Design, analyze, and develop systems for new and existing applications to solve complex problems or make enhancements.
Serve as the principal application designer for major modifications and lead development projects.
Oversee the technical components of project plans and coordinate with development, operations, and technology teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Review and execute test plans, debug as necessary, and ensure the application meets functional and technical specifications.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to less experienced developers, helping coordinate tasks for small to large scope projects.
Conduct technical assessments, ensuring project milestones are met on time and within scope.
Maintain a solid understanding of the business supported by the application, providing technology solutions that align with strategic goals.
Recommend improvements to processes, tools, and technologies to enhance system functionality.
Support systems documentation, including detailed specifications, diagrams, and charts.
Promote the use of development standards and best practices while maintaining strong internal control standards and adherence to risk policies.
Scope of Responsibilities :
This position works under the supervision of the Technology Team Lead. You will manage high-level systems analysis and technical phases of development, independently completing tasks and guiding junior team members. You will interact with senior management, other technology personnel, clients, and vendors, serving as a technical representative when necessary.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities :
Direct and monitor the activities of less experienced resources, ensuring quality and timely completion of tasks.
Provide mentoring and guidance to junior developers and assist in the management of development tasks across projects.
Education and Experience Required :
Minimum of an Associate's degree with 5 years of systems analysis/application development experience, or a combined 7 years of relevant work experience.
Strong programming skills with a deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
Experience in Web Services and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
Proficient in Java Springboot or .NET Core 3.x (Web API and Console), Web API Design and Development Concepts (REST API, GraphQL, SOAP, XML, JSON), and JWT.
Strong SQL skills and experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, VS Studio Code, and Postman/SoapUI.
Experience driving project milestones and delivering within deadlines.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
Education and Experience Preferred :
Good understanding of the financial institution's application framework.
Expertise in the specific applications and systems being supported.
Experience with complex, integrated systems and understanding their interdependencies.
Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a team setting.
Strong action-oriented, proactive attitude with the ability to manage multiple components of large projects.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups are required.
