Job Description

A global manufacturing company is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join one of their most innovative teams within their enterprise IT organization. In this role, the Data Scientist will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new and ongoing projects related to R&D, manufacturing, and ML and AI digital solutions. This individual should have expertise in data science practices such as data cleaning, regression, machine learning, and cross-validation and experience supporting AI projects (professionally or within school). Additionally, they should have fluent coding skills in R or Python with the ability to prepare data for analysis, build models, and create descriptive plots and reports. As a Data Scientist, you will be expected to plan data analysis activity as a series of logical steps, effectively communicate methods and results to internal business partners, and collaborate with data engineering and software development teams to query data and deploy models. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team within a global environment is a must. Experience This is a 6 month contract to hire opportunity and will require 3 days a week onsite in Wilmington, DE.

Skills and Requirements

• PhD degree or a (MS degree+ 2 plus years of experience) in science & engineering technical field

• Strong coding skills in R or Python including data preparation, regression, and plotting

• Formal education in statistics, including regression and hypothesis testing

• Expertise in machine learning and deep learning techniques in clustering, classification and neural network with emphasis on supervised learning, e.g. random forest, xgboost, lasso, cross-validation, hyperparameter tuning, neural networks

• Develop algorithms and applications for R&D with machine learning and data science tools including data wrangling, clustering, outlier removal, predictive modeling, optimization, and time series modeling.

• Own data science application development from conceptualization and proof of concept up to the product.

• Basic competency with SQL database queries and visualization prototyping

• Research experience in applying statistics and data science to solve business, engineering, or scientific problems

• Self-learning with the intellectual curiosity to keep abreast of advances in the field, grow data science expertise, and refine grasp of internal business operations over time

• Effective interpersonal skills for communicating technical concepts to a layperson, collaborating with team members, and confidence presenting data analysis results to internal clients - NLP, GenAI, Azure OpenAI

• Knowledge of GenAI systems including Agentic and RAG approaches utilizing additional technology such as knowledge graphs and advanced retrieval techniques. null
