Cyber Security – Web Application Firewall Lead Engineer

The Web Application Firewall Lead is part of the global team that is responsible for providing 24/7 real-time monitoring of the firm's cloud security posture within Azure, AWS, and CGP. This team is also responsible for incident identification, documentation, remediation and tracking for all cloud services. More specifically, the analyst will support the global Cyber Incident Response function and have following key responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze network traffic for potential security threats

  • Design and implement DDoS mitigation strategies to protect against volumetric attacks

  • Investigate and remediate web application firewall alerts and attacks

  • Regularly develop new and interesting use cases for application security testing and control validation

  • Participate in cyber threat hunts in support of the global cyber operations function

  • Deliver timely and detailed documentation related to any incident including the findings, review and follow-up activities

  • Participate in the creation, modification and maintenance of SOC policies

  • Keep abreast of cyber security trends and the emerging threat landscape in general and as it relates to BlackRock

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • 5+ years of experience of hands-on experience with DDoS tools such as Akamai Prolexic, Akamai WAF, AWS Shield, and Azure and their associated design and mitigation activities.

  • University Degree. MBA, CISSP, GWEB, or GCIH are preferred

  • Intermediate knowledge of Web Application Firewall security related technologies and their functions (Application Security attacks, WAF mitigation strategies, DDoS and Rate Control applications, etc)

  • Intermediate knowledge of networking fundamentals (Application / Elastic load balancers, BigIP Load balancers, Gateway Load Balancers etc.)

  • Deep understanding of cloud, security, enterprise SaaS and networking protocols.

  • Intermediate knowledge of container security and design.

  • Advanced event analysis leveraging SIEM tools

  • Sophisticated incident investigation and response skill set

  • Advanced log parsing and analysis skill set

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
