PRIMARY FUNCTION:
\ Assists in supervisory work involved in the repair and construction of water mains, valves, hydrants, and service installations.
\ Assists in the supervision and coordination of support for the water distribution maintenance crews.
\ Responsible for ground maintenance activities, equipment maintenance, storage of materials, and dispatching of equipment and vehicles.\ PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
\ Assists the Water Distribution Supervisor in activities in the Water Distribution Division. Supervise, direct, plan, schedule and assign construction crews daily.
\ Dispatches equipment and vehicles to work sites. Coordinates work in progress, by delivering signs, tools, and supplies to the various work sites. Receives, stores, issues, and maintains inventories of valves, pipes, hydrants, street boxes, and other construction materials and supplies. Must be able to work standby and overtime as needed.
\ Trains employees in work methods to ensure the proper operation of equipment and vehicles, including proper safety procedures.
\ Manages internal staff and contractors to accomplish job goals as directed.
\ Maintains work schedule of equipment and employee\'s time and prepares work progress reports. Completes Cityworks Work Orders capturing labor and materials costs for work completed.
\ Responds to emergency calls and coordinates response to customer complaints.
\ Coordinates the assignment of distribution maintenance work to contractors.
\ Assists the Water Distribution Supervisor in providing logistics, planning and support for distribution repairs and improvement including maintaining inventory of materials and equipment of crews to perform duties.
\ Coordinates with the Finance Department in digging up inaccessible shut off valves to terminate service for non-payment. Performs all related work as required.
\ Assists the Water Distribution Supervisor in the planning and managing of yearly budget for all supplies, equipment, and contractors needed to maintain and repair City water assets as needed.
