Buffalo, NY. Evolution Dental Science. DIGITAL DENTAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN. FT. Benefits. $16.00-$22.00/Hour.

A digital dental laboratory technician is responsible for fabricating and repairing digital dental prostheses and devices based on dentists' instructions. They utilize CAD/CAM technology to improve the design and creation of dental restorations, including crowns, bridges, dentures, and dental implants.

Key Responsibilities: Restoring or replacing natural teeth by fabricating crowns, fixed and removable bridges, dentures, and dental implants. Constructing dental prostheses for implantology and maxillo-facial reconstructions. Receiving physical dental impression molds or computerized models from dental practices and studying dentists' instructions. Encasing wax replicas of dental impressions with suitable mold materials. Constructing prostheses and devices by replacing wax with plastic, metal, or ceramic materials. Polishing and finishing dental prostheses and devices before placement by dentists. Facilitating additive and subtractive manufacturing. Adjusting dental prostheses and devices before final placement. Managing supply inventories, performing routine equipment maintenance, and facilitating repairs. Documenting processes and adhering to industry regulations and safety standards. Keeping informed of advancements in the field of dental laboratory technologies and techniques.

Skills and Qualifications: Good eye-hand coordination, especially in the case of Lab Technicians in the medical field. Excellent attention to detail, and ability to recognize differences in color and shape. Manual dexterity and precision. Knowledge and understanding of tooth anatomy, masticatory functions, and materials and processes utilized in dental prostheses creation. Familiarity with high-tech materials such as zirconia, ceramics, plastics, and metal alloys used in dental laboratories. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication and collaboration abilities. Excellent organizational and time management skills.

It is important for dental laboratory technicians to continuously develop their skills and knowledge in the field. They typically start with simple tasks and progress to more complex procedures as they gain experience. Dental laboratory technicians play a crucial role in creating functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing dental replacements for patients.
