Meat Cutter -- The Lingle Corporation

Purpose:

This position ensures that the stores Meat Department operates at the standards set by the Lingle Company. The role is to assist the meat manager in a manner that maximizes sales and profits. The meat cutter delivers the highest level of workmanship and attention to detail. A meat cutter provides the highest level of customer satisfaction by following the company product handling, freshness, trimming and pricing directives. The meat cutter will demonstrate excellent teamwork, interpersonal skills, and commitment to the success of the Lingle store team.

Acting as a member of the store team, the meat cutter will assist the Store Manager and Meat Manager in compliance with all Lingle Company policies and procedures. A meat cutter will also support the Meat Manager in directing all safety, security, and sanitation programs to remain in compliance with all state and federal regulations.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Works under the direction of the Store Manager and the Meat Manager. Uses all knives, power equipment per company policy. Processes and packages all beef, pork and poultry items according to Lingle policies and procedures. Wraps, weighs, and prices all commodities based on the published pricing guide.
  • Orders, receives, and inspects meat upon delivery to maintain cold chain and meat quality. Adheres to all rotation for dated and undated products both in the display case and in the storage cooler. Ensures excellent sanitation and quality standards are met daily to maximize sales and profit.
  • Prepares and places meat cuts and products in the display cases according to company policies and procedure so that they will appeal attractive and appealing to all customers.
  • Responsible to assist the Store Manager and Meat Manager in the and execution of all of the following but is not limited to: Food Safety, Sanitation, Pricing, Mark Downs (ID Loss) , Inventory Control, Meat POG's, Script Execution, and Customer Service.
  • A meat cutter may be assigned to work in more than one location. A meat cutter will adhere to all dress code polices per the company policies.
  • Protect company property, funds, and merchandise always.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • A positive attitude coupled with relevant experience, including hand tools and power equipment (slicers, grinders, cubing, and power saw).
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Must be dependable and flexible based on the needs of the business.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most work is performed in a temperature controlled environment with a standard temperature of 38-45 degrees.
  • Requires the ability to reach, bend, balance, lift, and transport various objects weighing up to 30lbs or more repeatedly throughout the shift. At times product may weigh as much as 100lbs.
  • Must have the ability to stand, walk, and/or move for extended periods of time
  • Requires the ability to push, pull, grasp and use cutting and sawing motions for extended periods of time.
