Job Title: Plant Mechanic Functional Area: Operations Department: Maintenance Business Unit: Pepperidge Farm Reports To (title): Maintenance Supervisor Location: Willard Direct Reports (titles): None FLSA: Hourly General Summary Responsible for operational maintenance service to all plant departments including performing installing, monitoring, maintenance, repair, and/or modification of electro-mechanical systems and equipment. Ensures reliable operation of electro-mechanical systems and equipment throughout the facility including production and plant support. Also, need to follow established procedures and work instructions for job responsibilities and assignments. Principal Accountabilities 1. Responsible for day to day troubleshooting, repair and installation of low and high voltage (single/three phase) industrial electro-mechanical and control systems for utility and production equipment. 2. Identify and upgrade outdated or unsafe electro-mechanical installations. 3. Assist in the development, implementation, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment. 4. Provide resource(s) to machine operators. 5. Responsible for documenting existing and new equipment, control and power system installation. 6. Perform system start-ups and operational checkouts on systems including configuration, wiring, calibration, grounding, and power testing. 7. Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections. 8. Specify, help organize, and help maintain adequate spare parts and modules for control and instrumentation systems. 9. Order, modify, design, and fabricate replacement parts as necessary. 10. Utilize technical materials such as equipment manuals, schematics, MSDS, safety materials, system drawings, process and instrument diagram (P&ID's), blue prints, to troubleshoot and maintain systems. 11. Responsible for efficient use of consumables. 12. Conform to all quality standards (HACCP, Quality Safe Food). 13. Participate in cross functional improvement teams. 14. Participate in Root Cause Analysis process using tools such as 5-Why and other problem solving methods. 15. Maintain good work area housekeeping practices according to 5S standards. 16. Follow all safety rules. 17. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervision. Job Specifications (knowledge, skills, abilities, education, certification, and training normally required for competent performance in the job) EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate Degree (+) or actively pursuing a technical degree fields of Electricity / Electronics / or related studies is preferred. If not degreed, equivalent experience and a demonstrated history of continuous learning of technology would be considered. On-going education will be expected and progression must be demonstrated.
