Job Summary

Geisinger is seeking an Emergency Medicine Regional Medical Director for our expanding Northeast region. This is an exceptional opportunity to provide leadership and management in Emergency Medicine (EM) with a focus on system wide Emergency Medicine redesign and alignment and higher-level strategic goals. Reporting directly to the Chair of Emergency Medicine, the Regional Medical Director will have the responsibility of assuring Geisinger’s mission, vision, and values are upheld in their region. Along with the Chair and the Associate Vice President for Emergency Medicine, they will work collaboratively with other system, hospital, and EM leadership, front line staff and other stakeholders to provide timely, high quality emergency medical care for all patients who present to Geisinger’s emergency departments.

Job Duties

The successful applicant will be expected to work their administrative and clinical time in the Northeast region . This full-time position is split 50 % administrative and 5 0% clinical. In addition to working clinical shifts, the successful applicant will be administratively responsible for providing oversight and direction in their region to ensure high quality medical care is provided to all patients in the Emergency Department (ED). The role will be expected to oversee and work in conjunction with other Emergency Medicine Associate Directors . Additionally, collaboration with other h ospital departments is required to ensure effective delivery of services in an organized and coordinated manner. T he Regional Director will also foster educational opportunities, staff selection and hiring, coaching and professional discipline with a strong focus on accountability.   Education and experience (Required): Career emergency physician with proven clinical and administrative skills.

• Seven (7) years of clinical practice required ; Ten (10) years preferred

• Three (3) years of leadership/management in EM or other pertinent and related healthcare role ; Five (5) years preferred

• Board certification in emergency medicine by ABEM or AOBEM
