There is an urgent requirement for Social Service Aide 3 positions within the Children, Youth, and Families agency of Luzerne County. DESCRIPTION OF WORK The Social Service Aide 3 will collaborate closely with the unit supervisor to receive guidance on work assignments aimed at helping families achieve their goals outlined in the Family Service Plan. Regular meetings will be held with the supervisor and caseworker to address safety concerns and ensure compliance with the FSP for the families under the Aide 3's care.

The Social Service Aide 3 must possess a comprehensive understanding of the various physical, cultural, developmental, and social factors that contribute to child abuse and neglect. It is crucial for the Aide 3 to be able to recognize safety issues and support caseworkers in connecting families with appropriate community resources.

Responsibilities of the Social Service Aide 3 include providing parents with information and guidance on effective parenting skills and techniques, particularly when dealing with challenges related to child supervision and discipline within the family unit.

Engaging in communication with clients through both telephone conversations and in-person visits to the homes of children and families is a key aspect of the Social Service Aide 3's role in ensuring the well-being of those under their care.

The Social Service Aide 3 will be responsible for gathering pertinent information from clients and collaborating with caseworkers to develop and implement the Family Service Plan tailored to meet the specific needs of each family.

Completing necessary paperwork such as agency and DPW forms, birth certificates, social security applications, and transportation forms is an essential part of the Social Service Aide 3's duties to ensure proper documentation and record-keeping.

Monitoring and overseeing visitation sessions between parents and children, whether at the office, the parent's residence, or any other arranged location by the caseworker, is a critical component of the Social Service Aide 3's responsibilities.

Documenting all interactions with clients, maintaining detailed case notes, and entering relevant information into the LCC&YS computer system are vital tasks that the Social Service Aide 3 must diligently carry out to ensure accurate and up-to-date records are maintained.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a County Social Services Aide 2; or Graduation from high school, or its equivalency, and three years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or An associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences, and one year of experience in a human services agency; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
