Job Overview:
The Senior Estimator (Marine) uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the estimating discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the estimating discipline. The Senior Estimator solves complex problems and uses their discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Estimator impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the estimating team and other related teams and ensures that they are working within the appropriate guidelines and policies.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Develops offshore marine estimating inputs for assigned bids, not limited to offshore work sequence, POB, schedule, vessel requirements, based on the scope and management strategy
Conducts a review of specifications, installation sequences and complexity
Maintains offshore historical records and prepares Benchmarks
Review, query, and understand the scope of work in order to prepare a proper estimate
Gather information and input from functions with support from the project manager
Consult with Subject Matter Expert (SME) to discuss Estimates and resolve issues
Generate estimates with available Benchmark data and from experience prior to receiving the inputs from functions and evaluate the estimates received from functions against the internal estimate
Analyze the cost components that are critical/crucial and seek quotes for applicable items
Participate in Bid review meetings, estimate evaluation meetings, Risk assessment meetings, as well as any additional bid-related meetings, as required
Prepare a comprehensive Basis of Estimate (BOE)
Review and identify contract price form
Understand and clarify unit rate and lump sum breakdowns
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is a plus
5+ years of experience in a large Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company (preferably in estimating, project controls, and data analytics)
