Defense Logistics Agency Logistics Management Specialist in Wiesbaden, Germany

Summary See below for important information regarding this job. Responsibilities Incumbent serves as Senior Logistics Planner Liaison for DLA Troop Support - Europe and Africa. Engages customers on all exercises and operations to determine requirements, obtain feedback and evaluate support related to combat readiness. Responsible for the extensive analysis and planning for the logistics support required to develop plans and strategies for contingency military actions/operations. Incumbent applies expertise knowledge of pertinent DoD and service logistics policies, services regulations and practices, and related administrative aspects of all phases of plans development. Responsible for providing the strategic planning interface between DLA Troop Support, DLA Troop Support OCONUS, and the designated organization/area of responsibility. Coordinates with and advises the Command Planners on DLA Troop Support and DLA Troop Support OCONUS ability to enhance combat readiness through integrated application of existing logistics resources and capabilities. Develops,reviews and evaluates applicable deliberate, contingency and exercise plans for completeness and accuracy in conjunction with defense activity use. Analyzes mission objectives to determine the type and extent of support required, coordinates with functional specialists to ensure adequate provisions for manpower, supplies, equipment and services to meet specific needs. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for a Logistics Management Specialist, GS-0346-13 your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Develop logistics planning. Prepare Situational Reports (SITREPS), point papers, trip and or staff report. Develop and finalize Operation Plans, annexes and other planning related documents Produce and evaluate deliberate, contingency and exercise plans for thoroughness and accuracy. Analyze mission objectives to determine the type and amount of support required. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This is an Expeditionary Civilian (EC) position. The incumbent will be designated as Emergency Essential (EE). In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent may be required to deploy via temporary reassignment or be required to stay in place to support contingency operations. The incumbent may be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively; therefore, the position requires the incumbent to be screened from military recall. Military Reservists selected for an EC position must arrange for a military deployment waiver from the Secretary Service level or transfer to the IRR Standby Reserve prior to appointment to an EC position. The waiver or transfer will remain in effect while assigned to the EC position. This requirement must be met prior to placement in an EC position. Positions identified as EE are subject to deployment to combat support situations. Deployment will be via Temporary Duty (TDY) orders. Deployment may entitle the employee to additional monetary compensation dependent upon the deployment location. Additional allocations are based on the Department of State's determination of a combat zone. Physical Demands Work will primarily be sedentary in nature; however, some physical labor may be required during deployments with regards to arranging living quarters and reconstitution of base labor camp sites. Incumbent should be able to perform light to moderate physical labor under these conditions. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
