Program Engineer

Salary Range - $80,000-$110,000

Overview
Our client designs & manufactures electronic instruments, rechargeable batteries, and custom solutions for commercial and military aircraft. Their customers include manufacturers of small business jets, large commercial airplanes, and the US Military. Due to growth and a promotion, they are adding 2 Program Engineers to their team. This role will report to an Engineering Manager, that also works as a Project Manager and has Application Engineering and Project Coordination functions.
In this role, you’ll be the technical interface between sales account managers and design engineers to secure programs and provide aftermarket support to customers. Programs include new product development and existing product qualification and certification efforts for aviation products such as cockpit avionics, power conversion equipment, and battery systems.
You’ll need professional and effective communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and external customers. You’ll be part of the reason customers consider our client a premier instrument, avionics, and aircraft power solutions provider.
Responsibilities:
Lead the internal technical interface between engineering and the customer, either directly and/or through the sales account manager
Weekly cadence calls with customers, internal staff on program updates/reviews
Review and answer tech questions regarding testing requirements, components, product specifications.
Download and explain details on the user manuals, blueprints, testing result
Create, collect, consolidate, and/or summarize technical data to meet customer requirements and deliverables
Maintain project & program documentation regarding certifications, test data, specifications
Drive projects to meet company and engineering time, cost and requirements targets
Time, labor, component costs
Serve as the gatekeeper for intellectual property (IP) in accordance with company policy
Support new sales efforts by reviewing proposal requirements and determining compliance
Work closely with engineering project managers and teams to assess status and represent progress to sales account managers and customers
Provide product-level expertise on functions, features, qualifications, and capabilities
Work with internal engineering (Mechanical, Hardware, Software, Battery Engineers) for technical clarity
Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the proposal process to completion
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer engineering or related or 10+ years relevant experience with prior military electronics/avionics training & experience
U.S. Citizenship is required to work on DoD projects
5+ years’ experience with field service or product development for electronic products with a preference for 2+ years in aviation, aerospace, or avionics.
Prior experience working in a customer facing role in any capacity required, prefer application of technical service type role.
Program/project management skills a plus
Strong understanding of, or experience with electrical and electromechanical products.
PCBs & their components, housings, sensors, mechanical components & product enclosures
Identify & understand how these components interact with and affect each other
Identify which engineer to go to solve more technical problems.
Experience/working knowledge of power conversion products (convertor or invertor DC to AC, AC to DC, DC to DC), rechargeable batteries (Li or Iron Phosphate) are preferred.
Basic understanding of paperwork flow for the development of aerospace or military products (customer, design engineering, certification, testing, etc.) is preferred
Working knowledge or understanding of aviation certification (Type Certificate and Supplemental Type Certificates) and qualification topics is a plus
Working knowledge of RTCA/DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, MIL-STD-810, MILSTD-461, are pluses
Proficient with Microsoft Office -required

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively and professionally interact with high level customer executives is a hard requirement.
