Position Description
As a valuable member of our team as a concrete finisher, you\'ll complete a wide range of tasks as directed by your foreman. Some of these tasks include concrete placement, grouting, loading and unloading of materials, jobsite clean-up, pumping water, assist excavation work, as well as assist other trades such as carpenters, ironworkers, masons, and laborers.
Position Requirements
Essential Functions:
- Reliable and punctual attendance
- Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency
- Molds expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge
- Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms
- Mixes cement, sand, and water to produce concrete, grout, or slurry, using hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper, or concrete-mixing machine
- Smooths and finishes surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, and sidewalks using straightedge and float or power screed
Requirements:
To succeed as a concrete finisher, an individual must be able to take direction and work with others as a team; follow company safety policies and participate in safety training programs; and demonstrate the ability to maintain and operate tools and equipment such as concrete hand trowels, power trowles, bull-float, magnesium-float, concrete saw, fresno, walking and hand-edger, concrete broom, and chipping hammers.
Working Conditions:
- Standing and walking for long periods
- Lifting in excess of 40 lbs on a frequent basis
- Working inside and outside in all weather and temperature conditions
- Varying noise levels that require ear protection
- Working in cramped quarters
