Job Title: 5 Axis CNC Machinist/Operator
Job Description
We are looking for skilled 5 Axis CNC Machinists/Operators to join our team on the 2nd or 3rd shift. This role involves setting up and operating a variety of 5 & 3 axis machines, cutters, and work holding tools to produce precision parts. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring product conformance by reading and understanding the function of precision instruments.
Responsibilities
Calculate dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and portable CMM or FARO.
Machine parts to specifications using 5 & 3 axis machines.
Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools for precision machining operations.
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines per setup documentation.
Measure, examine, or test completed parts to check for defects and ensure conformance using precision instruments.
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine product conformance.
Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
Diagnose machine tool malfunctions to determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
Confirm technical information with engineering, supervisory, or inspection personnel.
Fit and assemble fixtures and cutters to make or repair customer products.
Dispose of scrap or waste material according to company policies and environmental regulations.
Separate scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal.
Evaluate machining procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability per Kaizen process.

Inspecting equipment for safety hazards and verifying calibration.
Maintaining mechanical equipment and replacing worn components.
Knowledge of tools and technology such as boring bars, cutters, calipers, micrometers, hand tools, and various gauges.
Experience with analytical software, Verisurf Inspection Software, GUI operation software, industrial control software, and controls like HAAS, Fanuc, and Siemens.

Work Environment
The work environment is a machine shop and sub-assembly area for aerospace, military projects, and Space X. The 2nd shift operates from Monday to Thursday, 4:15 pm to 2:45 am, and the 3rd shift operates from Friday to Sunday, 4 am to 4:30 pm. Employees who work all three full days on the 3rd shift receive an extra 4 hours as comp time. New employees undergo 6-8 weeks of training before moving to their designated shifts to learn our processes.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wichita, Kansas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $52000.00/yr.
